Essential rules

A summary of the official rules of the 2026 Bolivian Programming Contest.

Two mandatory phases
Teams must take part in Phase 1 and in Phase 2. Even a team that earns a slot on the first date must compete on the second one to keep it.
Composition and continuity
Each team has exactly three contestants from the same institution and one coach. It must keep the same name in both phases; only reserves who were registered and announced before the contest may step in.
Complete registration
The coach and every team member must be registered and accepted in the ICPC Registration System before competing. Retroactive registrations and incomplete teams are not admitted without express authorisation.
Eligibility
The ICPC rules on studies, regional participations and World Finals apply. As a reference, the season admits anyone who began post-secondary studies in 2022 or later, or was born in 2003 or later; national exceptions do not change regional eligibility.
Format and scoring
Teams use one computer. The winner is whoever solves the most problems; ties are broken by the lowest total time and then by the time of the last accepted submission. Each previous rejected submission adds twenty minutes, except compilation errors.
Contest environment
The official judge is BOCA and every site uses the same operating system distribution. The allowed languages are C, C++, Java, Kotlin and Python 3.

This summary does not replace the rules. See the full 2026 rules and the general ICPC rules.

How slots are assigned

Qualification is cumulative and aims to fill approximately 90 team places for the Regional.

  1. Criterion 1

    Best team from each site

In Phase 1 the top-placed team from each national site qualifies.

  2. Criterion 2

    Institutions and all-women teams

In Phase 2 the best not-yet-qualified team from each institution and the best all-women team from each site qualify.

  3. Criterion 3

    Combined ranking

The remaining slots are assigned by adding up problems solved and penalty from the two phases.

El Alto and Yacuiba are not taking part in the 2026 edition. If you have already registered and your site changes, follow the instructions from your coach and the committee on Telegram.

How to register

Registration is completed on the official ICPC platform.

  1. 1. Create the team accounts

The coach and the three contestants each need their own account on icpc.global with their details filled in.

  2. 2. The coach registers the team

From the official event, the coach creates the team, adds the members and selects the correct national site.

  3. 3. Complete the certification

Each member accepts the invitation and fills in their eligibility information. The team must be complete before registration closes.

  4. 4. Check the acceptance and keep the team

Confirm that the team was accepted and keep the same name through both phases. Member changes can only be made with registered reserves.
